One Born Every Minute – time to get involved!

Happy New Year!!

Just before Christmas we wrote a post about the return of the fabulous Channel 4 show One Born Every Minute and how, via Netmums, bloggers could get involved in sharing their own birth experiences. If you’re here to read the One Born Every Minute bloggers posts just click the little green Mister Linky below or at the bottom of the post.

We’re delighted to announce that the first of our four weekly linkys is now open!

The first episode of One Born Every Minute will air on Channel 4 on 4th January at 9pm and follows the stories of two dads, both of whom desperately want to be there for the birth of their babies.

We would love as many of you as possible to get involved by writing your own posts about what your birth experience was like from both you and your partners perspective and then sharing your link on the linky below.

The linky will run all week until the day the second show airs on the 11th Jan, we will then give you a new blog prompt for that show.

Don’t have a blog? We’d love to read your comments and \ or tweets about the story of your own birth using the #dad tag.

So remember:

Write your blog post, tweet it out with the hashtag #oneborn #dads copying in the @C4OneBorn and @netmums for a re-tweet and share your take on fatherhood.

Netmums Blog will be running a linky each week where you can link up your posts to – so be sure to come back for each of the themes. (Sneak peek at week 2 – ‘pain’!)

We will also be signposting Parent Bloggers Network in our weekly netmums newsletter too so you’ll get the chance for your post to be viewed by our one million Netmums members. Don’t forget to tag your post ‘one born every minute’ so that our members can easily find you.

Feel free to tweet your link at any time and make sure you re-tweet on Weds 4 Jan when the first show airs!

And finally!

Don’t forget to spread the word about One Born in your post too: One Born Every Minute is on Wednesday nights from 4th Jan, 9pm, Channel 4 and available online at www.lifebegins.channel4.com

At bedtime on the 5th of July 2011 I lost my mucus plug did not worry to much about it I was only 35+4 did not tell my hubby what had happened the next morning Carl was on breakfast shift he is a chef at a local hotel so went to work as normal leaving home about 6.10 I tried to get some more sleep but could not settle so about 7 got up and went to the loo and had a wash had just put my underwear on when my waters broke cleaned myself up got dressed than rang the assesment centre they told me to come in for a check up was in no pain so thought they would say I just had an infection & send me home rang Carl he ran home deserting breakfasts and took me to Lincoln hospital got seen several hours later told I was a little bit dialated then an hour or so was told I was 7cm dialated and would give birth that night was took up to the labour ward at 16.30 started having pains about 20.15 and gave birth to Daniel at 21.20 after pushing for 20 minutes using gas and air Carl and I just stared at him could not believe that this little bundle was ours.

  13. Was looking for an excuse to do my birth story. What a great way to share – and read others too. Anyone else find their husband guessed almost exactly when the baby would be born?

I went into labour exactly 20 mins after the last episode of Ashes to Ashes, I knew I had because when I climbed in bed I had a sharp twinge.
My husband had a pad and pen to right down the timed contractions .

I then decided I needed a wee, so went to the toilet and had another twinge. I rang the hospital and they said take a paracetamol and only come in when they are 10 mins apart , the time was now about 10.30.

I knew this was it so hubby rang my friend to come and get our six yr old boys.

Within half an hour she arrived and I knew I was in full labour, as my husband was outside with the boys saying bye I was screaming for him as I needed to push.

We managed to get downstairs but I could not get dressed and knew the baby was coming. We made our way to the lounge and I was in all fours in the floor, hubby was going to have to deliver the baby so rang an ambulance, 10.40 by now and whilst hubby spoke with the ambulance operator I delivered a baby, the minute I had delivered the ambulance men had arrived, 11.56.

Only then did we know I had delivered a baby girl.

The pain of childbirth was nothing compared to the pain of the stiches I had to have, but would def recommend a home birth, although with a midwife in attendance.

Cant wait to watch and see if I can spot the fantastic Naomi B (my midwife and sanity keeper a few months ago! ) I was 3 weeks overdue and didnt think Id ever meet my little lad but with Naomi and her teams help we got through it and he arrived healthy and happy, I retained my placenta (its happened before so I wasnt surprised but was soooo disappointed) I had to be rushed off for surgery but the staff were fantastic and I was home 24 hours later with a bagful of drugs and a beautiful healthy lil boy!

hi, all i had my little girl on the 21st of December 2010 at 2.57am on a Lunar Eclipse + Winter Solstice—First in 372 Years. my labour was 2 hours long. my waters broke in the car at horsforth round about. her head was out by the time we got behind Yorkshire television. then i had she in my father-in-laws the car (what a mess i left lol) at the coldest times of the year (-10) all on cctv and i was also a paramedics first birth he had. after all the drama she was fine and i was till about an hour later when i felt funny i couldn’t see right. they check me over and said i was fine. a few days later i still couldn’t see right so off to the doc’s i went and i found out i had a mild stroke. one hell of a night and i was the talk of lgi that day. it’s all fun and better than the 34hours of labour i had with my 1st lol. marie x
